Imperial College London is consistently ranked as one of the leading universities in the world. The Department of Biomolecular Medicine within ICL offers extensive and dedicated facilities for metabolic profiling which are among the best in Europe. The department has one of the world’s largest research teams in metabolic science and has outstanding analytical facilities in NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. In addition, there are many experts in statistical spectroscopy and the statistical integration of multiple ‘omics data. The Department is currently applying metabolomic approaches to study the RHEA and INMA cohorts and leads the metabolomics work in EnviroGenoMarkers. The department has developed metabolome wide association studies (MWAS) through the application of metabolic profiling to large-scale epidemiology studies, for example, INTERMAP and INTERSALT.
